Terrapin Beer Co. is a craft brewery in Athens, Georgia, in the Athens & Northeast Georgia region, and one of the state's true pioneers, brewing since 2002. It made its name with hop-forward beers like Hopsecutioner and the Rye Pale Ale, and over two decades has grown into one of the largest and most recognizable breweries in the state. The expansive taproom near the North Oconee River, complete with a beer garden and frequent live music, is a quintessential Athens experience — equal parts brewery, hangout, and college-town institution.
