Start downtown at Service Brewing, founded by a U.S. Army veteran in 2014 and built around a mission to support veterans and first responders. The flagship Ground Pounder IPA leads a solid, approachable lineup, and the taproom is a short walk from River Street.
Southbound & Coastal Empire
Savannah's first production brewery, Southbound, opened in 2013 and remains a local favorite for its Hoplin IPA and lively beer garden. Coastal Empire, brewing since 2011, pours the hometown Savannah Brown Ale in a friendly neighborhood taproom. Together they round out an easy downtown-area trail.
The Coast Beyond Savannah
Don't stop at the city. Tybee Island's wide beach is twenty minutes east, and south along US-17 the Golden Isles — St. Simons, Jekyll, and the Brunswick coast — offer beaches, fresh seafood, and a slower island pace. Statesboro, inland to the west, adds a college-town stop to the mix.
Planning the Trip
Savannah's historic district is best explored on foot, and rideshares make a car-free downtown brewery crawl easy. Base yourself near the riverfront or in the historic district, spend your days wandering the squares and your evenings in the taprooms, and save a day for the beach. It's the quintessential Georgia coast weekend.
